Individual Walking Plans

Day to Day Programs Developed around Your Goals and Your Schedule

One time Fees for Individual plans range from $75 to $120 depending upon the plan you choose.

Before you begin walking, try taking this short quiz:

1. You can expect to loose weight if you walk at a moderate pace for 30 minutes three to four time a week.

2. For bone density loss, it is best to take several quick short walks each day.

3. If you have been sedentary and are just beginning an exercise program, you will need to start walking at about 3 1/2 miles an hour.

A good walking trainer can explain why all 3 questions are false. This can save you time and frustration in meeting your fitness goals.

Each walking plan begins with an interview with the walking trainer, who will help you assess your current level of fitness and define your specific fitness target.

You may be asked questions such as:

What is your work schedule?
Will you be walking during your lunch break at work?
How much time do you wish to spend each week?

Other questions may include:

Are you used to working within an aerobic heart beat range?
Do you have any specialized medical needs or concerns?**

**Note: Whidbey walks does not provide medical advice, but will work closely with any medical advice from your doctor to integrate it into your plan.

Plan A: $75
This is a 6-week (42 day) plan of physical activity coordinated with your day to day schedule. Starting with walking at a speed and duration comfortable at your current level of fitness, this plan will move you to the level where you can follow the program as laid out to meet your fitness goals. It includes a one-time meeting with the walking fitness trainer to access your needs, calculate your training heart rate range, and help clarify the goals you wish to achieve.

(If you are a South Whidbey resident, this will also include specific suggestions for walking an outdoor trail near your home.)

Plan B: $95
This is a two month plan of activity similar to Plan A, which will allow you to move gradually into the level of activity where you can easily continue on your own and meet your fitness goals. This plan includes specific directions for getting back on track if you experience interruptions in your schedule.

It includes two meetings with the walking fitness trainer, one to develop your individual plan, and a second follow-up meeting to assess progress and give you feedback and suggestions. As in A above, we will include suggestions for walking a trail near your home. This plan also allows your to join any of our monthly Focused Group walks for no extra charge.

Plan C: $120
Plan C offers all the benefits of Plan B, but in addition you will automatically become a member of the Whidbey Walks Walking Club which means that we will help you find a walking partner with similar walking goals, and a compatible schedule.++ Studies have shown that having a walking partner can mean the difference between failure and success in staying on a regular exercise program. And, of course, you will be able to join us on all of the monthly group focus walks at no extra charge.
